I haven't really heard anyone talking shit about that movie, and I've been in this sub for many years now. Howard hammered away at the idea that people would waste their time seeing a 20 year old movie instead of his brilliant new film, but I knew that there was no way people weren't going to go and watch George Lucas take a steaming dump all over Jabba's Palace. The special edition rereleases we're out at the time and Return is the Jedi was either releasing the same sell or the week after Private Parts. I remember being in high school when the movie came out, and along with being a huge Stern fan, I was a complete Star wars obsessive. It's an easy popcorn movie that has legitimate laughs and moves along at a brisk pace.Įdit.

That said, I love the movie and have watched it a ton and can still watch it basically any time. I think people shit on the movie simply because Howard made the callous calculation that presenting himself as a devoted husband would get himself over with the public despite the fact that, in reality, he was divorcing the woman he made this 2 hour love letter to.
